What happens if I mark a saved search "public" in the Client?

Updated on

Just say NO... don't do it! You should NEVER mark a Customized Search as "Public" in the CLIENT!

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

If you click the "Make Public" checkmark on a Customized Search, then everyone who is on eFACTORYPRO can see it... and it is customized for your data only.  No one can delete it but the person who created it.  It is taking up room in the search menu, and is not helpful for anyone but you.

Only the person who created the Search can delete it... and it is taking up space in the search field for everyone else.

To make it worse, they have saved it twice, with the same name, same criteria, and made it public both times.

Notice that Delete or Make Private is not available, as you did not create this search.

The only option to have it removed from the list would be to contact the site and have them Mark it as Private.

1. Click on either of the two Search Names to load.

2. Right Click on the Name to see your available options.

If, however, YOU created the search, you will see the option to fix your mistake.

3. Click on the search to load.

In this example, we have created the Lead Tech PM Tasks and have accidentally made it a Public Search.  To fix this, follow these steps.

4. Right Click on the Search Name.

5. Choose Make Private.

Only you can see the search once it's Private.  If another member of your team wants the same search, they will need to recreate it on their computer.
