2.8 When would I mark a Task with the Task Status "In Planning"?

Updated on

For non-MRCT breakdown WO/Tasks: Work Order is received, P/S assigns an initial priority and ESTIMATED duration, and sets the Status to In Planning. This is usually performed through the Planner Portal, but can be done in the Portal or the CLIENT as well.

You are just making an educated guess at the priority and the duration.  It will be further refined in the additional steps of the process.  This initial step just helps to get a better understanding of how much time is in your backlog, since all MRCT and MOTH tasks are generated with a zero duration.  It also allows you to drag the Task onto the schedule board (once it's ready), because now you have a duration.

While a Task Status Reason is not required for In Planning, there are several available to clarify the step of the planning process. Task Status Reasons for In Planning include: Kitted, Waiting on Materials, Waiting on Production, Waiting on Service, Scheduling Complete and Planning Complete.

Depending on where you are viewing the Task from, you may see the Task Status Reason of Planning Complete say Ready for Scheduling.

1. From the Work Module, find the Task you are looking for and select the EDIT button in the Task Summary.

2. Change the Status to In Planning.

3. Enter a Task Status Reason if applicable.

4. Click SAVE.

5. The Task Status Reason of Planning Complete is used to notify operations that the job is ready to be worked.

6. In the Planner Portal under Tasks, you will see tasks in the New and In Planning statuses that do not have the Status Reason "Ready for Scheduling."

7. Once you process the task through the Planning Wizard, the Task automatically moves to the In Planning/Ready for Scheduling Status.

As always, you can see the Task Statuses on Excel exports out of the Portal, as well as reports such as the Shift Turnover Report.
