2.11 When would a Task be marked as "In Progress"?

Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

Many of our sites use the Status of "In Progress" to show when the Technician is actually working on a Task.  This gives the entire site (not just ATS personnel, but the Customer as well) more visibility into the process.

There are two times that EFP will set the system to In Progress automatically:

  1. When the Task Status was in Hold/WMAT because a part is on order; once the part is received into stock, EFP sets the status as In Progress/Blank.
  2. When the Supervisor is reviewing a WO/Task and decides to reopen it and send it back to the Technician, EFP sets the status as IN PROGRESS/Rework Required.

Most of the time, the Tech will be selecting the Task from either All Open Tasks or All Open PMs (as the work will generally be assigned to him/her).  However, the functionality works the same regardless of what view you are starting from in the Tasks drop-down menu.

1. Highlight the line.  This makes the Task load in the lower panel.

2. Click on the EDIT button.

3. Change the Status to In Progress.

4. Select a Task Status Reason (if desired).

There are several Task Status Reasons that will further define the IN PROGRESS Status.  These are not required, so it is up to the site to define if/how they want to use them.

  • Blank is the default Task Status Reason.
  • Accepted: Used mostly by traveling techs.  Technician is confirming receiving work instructions and task details.
  • Carryover: Any task that cannot be completed by the current technician and needs to be handed off to another tech.
  • Arrived:  Used mostly by traveling techs or large sites to signify that the Technician is at the job site and ready to begin the work.
  • En Route:  Used mostly by traveling techs when traveling to the job.
  • Rework Required:  This status reason cannot be selected from the Task Summary Panel.  Rework Required is used when a Supervisor reopens a completed task and sends it back to the Technician because the machine repair requires a do-over or the WO/Task does not meet the review requirements for closing.
