5.2 CONTROL CENTER: How do I create an Event Notification in the Control Center?

Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

The Control Center allows you to create site-specific notifications.

You must have supervisor permissions to access the Control Center.

1. From the Navigation Pane click on Control Center and select Event Monitor. from the menu.

2. Each escalation/notification is called an Event Monitor.  You are set to enter a new monitor.  If for some reason, you are on an existing monitor, click the plus sign next to the Existing Monitors.

3. Enter the Event Monitor name.

This should start with the four-digit site number.

4. Enter a Description.

5. The Active Toggle is on.  You would only switch this to off if you were building events in advance.

6. From the Condition Tab, begin to build your Rules to trigger the events.

  • You can group by And or OR statements.
  • You can use singular conditions or groups.

7. In this example, start by adding the singular condition:  Equipment Criticality is Down.

8. As this monitor is just for Emergency, you will add a second condition (not a group).

For additional information on how to build groups, click here.

9. The next step is to build the actions. Click on the Actions Tab.

By default, the Actions default to "Active", Notify after 1 minute, and NOT to notify on completion.

10. Move the toggle next to Notify on Completion to receive an email when the ticket is completed.

11. Enter the email address of the person to receive the alert and click the plus sign.  Repeat the process until all the appropriate people are added.

12. To have a SMS Text message sent as well, enter a mobile number in the phone number field as well.  Click the plus sign to add it to the list.  Repeat as necessary.

13. To add an additional alert, click the Add Action button and complete all the necessary information.

14. You must click SAVE for the changes to take effect.  If not, all of your work will be lost if you exit out without saving.

15. If you want to cancel the monitor before it is created, you would use the Cancel button.

16. A confirmation message will tell you that the Event Monitor has saved successfully.

17. By default, the event monitor is created as active.

18. After the Event Monitor is created, if you want to make changes, click on the monitor name.  The title is highlighted in Grey... this tells you that you are in Edit mode.

19. If you want to deactivate the monitor, simply slide the Active Checkbox to the left.

20. Click Save.

21. The Event Monitor will now show in the Inactive section.

Once an Event Monitor is created, there is no way to delete it from the system.  It will simply show in your Inactive list in case you want to reuse in in the future.
