1.9 How do I decommission a piece of equipment at my site?

Updated on

Essential Resources: To complete this training you must have access to eFACTORYPRO.

This article will take you through setting a piece of equipment to the decommissioned status.

If a machine is not being used for production, you would change the status to DECOMMISSIONED.  If you are actually removing the equipment from your site, you would use the "SCRAPPED" status.  As long as the machine is physically still at your site, it should be in the Decommissioned status, NOT the Scrapped status.

1. Navigate to the Equipment screen.

2. Find the equipment you would like to decommission.

3. Select the EDIT button under Summary.

***THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - If there are any tasks with ANY work done on them you will NOT be able to change the Current Operating Status. That drop down will be grayed out (see below). Please tend to all open Tasks before Decommissioning or Scrapping a piece of Equipment.***

4. Select the drop down for Current Operating Status.

5. Select Decommissioned.

6. Select Save.

7. The equipment will now be displayed as DECOMMISSIONED.

You also need to deactivate any PMs associated with this Equipment.

***To take the status from Decommissioned to active again you will need SUPERVISOR access (or higher) to the work module.***
