One big consideration when assigning techs to do work is the Skill Set of the tech. eFACTORYPRO allows you to assign, unassign and track Skill Sets in the Work Module for use in the scheduling function. This work is performed in the Control Center.
Each Technician can only be assigned a single Skill Set: Associate Tech, Tech I, Tech II, Senior Technician or Specialist. For the purposes of scheduling, this should be the skill level at which you feel that the person consistently performs. To change that skill set to something else the previous will have to be unassigned.
Think of how you will be using this in the Scheduling function. If a person is a Senior Tech, you know that they could do Tech II work if no Senior Tech work is available. As a matter of principle, you would want to assign them first to any jobs that require Senior Tech skills. Therefore, you would assign that person the Senior Tech skill set.
1. From the Navigation Pane of the Work Module, click on the Control Center and select Skill Sets.
2. Then select Skill Sets.
3. A list of people associated with your site are listed on the left.
4. Click on the funnel icon to bring up the filters.
5. In the search box, type part of the name for the associate you are going to assign skills to. You can use either the first or last name.
6. Click Apply.
7. The name(s) populate on the left. Click on the name of the person you want to change.
8. The Assign Skill Set screen loads. At the bottom of of the screen you will see the drop-down to choose the skills for this person.
9. Click on the drop-down arrow at the end of the skill set field.
As a best practice, please choose the highest level of skill that the person has. You can always assign a Tech II to Tech I work if you have no one else to do it, but the preference is, obviously, that someone with a Tech II skill set would be doing work that requires that level of work.
As of February 2022, you are able to assign techs of different skillsets than originally required without changing the job plan or deleting the skillset.
10. Select the appropriate field from the drop down.
11. Once you have finished, the Save button in the upper right becomes active.
12. A confirmation message in the upper right corner tells you that the skill set has been successfully saved.
Once saved, the record will show the Skill, as well as the person who set it and the date.
If, at a later time, you need to remove the skillset, you can do this by clicking the Remove From Skill Set button directly under the current skillset.
As opposed to changing the skillset to a different level, this will change the person back to unspecified and remove them from showing up in your daily schedule board queue.
1. Select the name of the Technician.
2. The information about that Tech will populate.
3. To remove the skillset simply select "Remove From Skill Set" and the user will get a pop-up notification.
4. Skillset will then be listed as "removed.
5. The name of the person who removed it will be displayed.
6. The date it was removed will also be displayed.
