This article will be for technicians who work at a site where ATS handles parts inventory.
As I am sure you know, ATS has a number of different contract variations based on customer needs: in some cases, we handle the inventory for the customer, in some we do not. This document will cover how HOLD/Waiting on Materials works for sites that handle inventory in EFP.
If your site's inventory is purchased and tracked in EFP, the system automatically validates when material is not in stock, and places the Task on HOLD/Waiting on Materials (or IN PLANNING/WMAT*) until the part is received into stock. If your site is not responsible for inventory, that validation is skipped in the system.
* Whether the Task goes to Hold or In Planning depends on its original status.
1. From the Mobile app, find the appropriate task.
If it is not in your Tasks, you can go to All Open Task or All Tasks, click on the three lines next to Task Id, enter the task number, and bring it up.
2. Select the task line so that it loads.
3. Select the Parts icon.
4. Select the blue + icon.
5. Search and find the correct part.
6. Adjust the quantity if needed and Select Add to Task. For our example, we need 1 of these bearings but they're showing up as Out of Stock.
7. These bearings are on back order but we're in no rush to receive them. Click Next.
8. Double check the information on the Part Need Summary and select Create Need
9. The Part Need now shows under the Parts Need tab.
Notice the Consume button has a yield icon. This means the part cannot be consumed until it is in stock.
Because the quantity on hand is zero, the Task status will automatically go to HOLD/WMAT until the part is received into stock.
