2.9 As a Technician, when do I need to enter a Reason for Variance in the Work Module?

Updated on

Essential Resources: To complete this training you must have access to eFactoryPro.

This training course will take you through a scenario when you would need to add a Reason for Variance.

If you have completed a PM that is out of Compliance... either BEFORE or AFTER the Compliance Window, eFACTORYPRO will make it mandatory for you to enter a Reason for Variance before marking the task as Complete. If you want to cancel a PM that has not had any work logged against it the user will again have to choose a Reason for Variance (see bottom of this document).

1. If you try to mark a PM as Completed outside the compliance window you will get a pop-up asking you to enter a Reason for Variance before being able to complete the Task.

2. From the drop down select a RFV.

3. Select Complete to mark the PM as complete or Discard to go back to the Task.

This can also be done through the Task Summary.

4. From the summary select the edit button.

5. From the Edit Task dialog box select the drop down arrow for Reason for Variance.

Reasons include:

  • Documentation Unavailable
  • Equipment Unavailable
  • Part Unavailable
  • Personnel Needed
  • Planning Inadequate
  • Scope of Work Changed
  • Safety Equipment Unavailable
  • Tool Unavailable
  • Training Needed

6. Select appropriate reason.

7. Select SAVE.

All other task steps will need to be completed before the user gets to this process (i.e. steps, notes, labor).

8. Task can now be marked as Completed.
