FAQ

What is a Commodity Group?

  • A Commodity Group is basically a grouping of parts. In most cases, these can be further broken down into categories, and then sometimes even into sub-categories.

Just as an example: (obviously there are multiple others)

  • Commodity Group:  Motor
  • Category:  AC
  • Sub-Category:  Pump, General Purpose, Air Handling, etc

What do I see when I select a Commodity Group?

  • At the bottom of the screen the user will see items recently used for that commodity group that have been select for the site.

What do I see what I select a Commodity Group and then hit the magnifying glass?

  • When you select a Commodity Group and hit the magnifying glass, the results on the next page will be every part in that Commodity Group.  They will not be filtered by Category and Subcategory until you do that manually.

Keep in mind that depending on how your filters and toggles are set, you may be looking at just your site stock or only things that currently have Quantity On Hand.

What do I see when I select the See More button?

  • When you hit the Show More button, the full listing of Commodity Groups comes up. This is a scrollable alphabetical listing.  You can choose just one commodity group from this listing and then hit done.
  • Once you move to the second screen, you can move down to the Commodity Group filter and add a second Commodity Group.  In this case, we have selected Motors as well as Motor. To remove one of the Commodity Groups you can simply uncheck the box or click the X next to the results.

The last thing to note is that the Commodity Group has some of the highest power when pulling back search results.  If you know that you are looking for a motor, as a best practice we suggest starting with the Commodity Group of "Motor" or "Motors" and using the filters on the left hand side to narrow your results further.
