2.16 As a Technician, what do I need to know about the STEPS section of the Task in the Work Module?

Updated on

Essential Resources: To complete this training you must have access to eFactoryPro.

This training course will take you through the Steps section of the Task.

All Tasks will have Steps required. At a minimum, there is the confirmation of the Pre-Task Analysis that is required for all MRCT and MOTH Work Order Task types.  Proactive Task types have considerably more steps that are required to complete the PM or PdM.  Most of the time, all the steps that are listed are required, but occasionally you will see a step that is optional.  An example might be: Check the filter, and if needed, change it.  If you change the filter, make a note in the box below.

Marking Steps Complete:

1. From the home screen of the Work Module, find the Task.

2. The Task loads in the lower panel.

You know you're working at the Task level because it says Task in the upper left corner and Task is underlined in the header.

3. Click on the Steps to see the steps for this MPRO.

4. Mark each step as you finish the step or Click MARK ALL COMPLETE at once (button in red box).

5. The number badge next to Steps turns green to indicate that step/steps are now complete.

On a CM Task, so there is only the 1 Required Step listed.  This is the Pre-Task Analysis.

6. A confirmation message tells you that the steps have been successfully completed for this Task.

7. Most of the times the Steps are all required, but occasionally, a step can be optional.

When the "Required" column says "No" for a specific step, the step will be optional and the Tech will be able to complete the Task with or without that Step being marked complete.

As you can see in the previous example, steps 11 & 13 are marked as NO in the Required Column. The reason they appeared as Not Required is because they were set up like that in the Job Plan.

Conditional Steps:

Some task templates will contain Conditional Steps.  These are set up in the job plan and can be either required or optional.  An example is below.

8. Notice that step 4 asks you to rate the condition of the Shavings bin.

9. In this case it is a required rating.  Click on the Ratings Required.

10. A pop-up box tells you that you must enter a rating, and that if you enter N/A or unsatisfactory, you must also enter a comment.

In this case, we entered Satisfactory.

11. Once the rating (and comments if needed) are entered, the submit button becomes active.

12. The line will change from Ratings required to Satisfactory.

From here you can hit the Mark All to complete the steps.
