Reports allow you to present data in a compelling and insightful way, and help you show the important components of data.
1. Use the built in filters first. Filters are focused on the individual visual, the entire page, or the entire report.
2. Set a filter as the default view to improve performance of reports, this helps reduce large amount of data being displayed by default.
3. Limit the number of visuals on a page to no more than eight per page and tables or matrix to no more than one per page.
4. Create simple titles and headers to identify visuals.
5. Disable unneeded interactions between visuals.
6. Slicers impact performance so use them sparingly, instead use filters and visual to navigate and slice data.
7. Use the Microsoft Marketplace or AppSource for custom visuals, other custom visual sources could cause poor performance.
8. Use bookmark and selection pane to keep consumers from needing to scroll to see all visuals.
9. Long load time troubleshooting
- Test visuals and interactions on the page with the Performance Analyzer within the View menu of Power BI desktop to determine performance issues.
- Utilizing multiple filters or Hierarchy filters can impact page load times.
