7.10 Understanding the Layout of the Asset Performance Snapshot

Updated on

The Asset Performance Snapshot has been created by the R360 group to give you a place to start with gathering data.  You can use this in combination with the Failure Analysis Report or any of the tools provided by the R360 Team to improve performance at your site.

1. From Shared with me, go to the FMS Metrics Report.  If you have a Consumer License, you will access this through your site workspace under the Shared with me navigation.

2. Instead of going into the FMS Metrics Reports, go to the Asset Performance Snapshot.

This report focuses on Critical 1 & 2 Assets only.  Like every other Power BI Report, if you want to change the options, you can expand the filters on the right hand side and make your changes.

FMS Metrics Reports - Power BI and 3 more pages - Work - Microsoft Edge

A.  The top panel shows you the Top Five Assets by Failure Count.

You will notice that there are 7 assets listed, not five.  This is because of duplication in the number of failure counts.  The bottom five listed all have failed three times.

B.  Regardless of which column you are looking at, each are color coded individually.  If you were trying to to determine which is the most critical to investigate, and one of the Assets was red in all the columns, that might be a good place to start.

If there is no clear cut place to start, use each column individually, and put context around the data to see what will make the biggest impact

C.  At the top of each graphic, you will see the usual icons that are available in Power BI.

Helpful options include but are not limited to:

  • The funnel icon brings up the filters.
  • The focus icon makes the data larger and easier to view.
  • Various sorting options are available.
  • You can export the data as needed.

D.  On the right side of each chart is the date range that the chart represents.

For the Top Five Assets by Failure Count, the default view is six months from today.

E.  The middle panel focuses on the Top Five Assets by Reactive Hours.

  • The date range for this view is much smaller -- you are just looking at the last two weeks of data.
  • Whereas the first report focused on the failures, this report is looking at which machines have the most reactive.  You can see that the first and last one on the list have no failures at all within this time frame.
  • There is only one machine that is on both reports - EXT-005.
  • Again, remember to look at the column shading individually, to help you determine what is going with these assets.

F. The left bottom panel is the top five Equipment Sub-types rated by total downtime hours.  The date range for this report is the last 12 months.

G.  The right hand side shows the total downtime hours by OEM.  This has a 1 month rolling time frame as well.

If you are uncertain as to what to do with this information, here are some suggestions:

  • Reach out to the R360 Team for some deeper analysis support
  • Search the Tech hub for troubleshooting guides, documentation, or OEM contacts that could help.
  • Are there cross-training opportunities that could help? If so, schedule it and capture the hours using the OJT function in Cornerstone.
  • Review the PMs
  • Review the Failure Analysis Report
  • Review the MRCT Work Orders for these machines and look for problems.
  • Are there cross-training opportunities that could help? If so, schedule it and capture the hours using the OJT function in Cornerstone.
  • Pull the last RCAs that have been conducted on the those machines. Has the equipment failed on the same issue since the RCA was done?
  • Go to the Copy Job Plan function in the Planner Portal and see what other sites with the same equipment are doing. Is there something that can be added to yours?
  • Ask your Technicians who most frequently work on the machines to write out their basic troubleshooting steps for the most common issues. Take that information and put it into Reusable Job Plans (type = blank) that you can assign to the equipment.
  • Look to see if there are SkillPoint shorts (training videos) that could be attached to those Job Plans.
  • Don't forget to use the Maintenance Forum when issues arise!
  • and many, many more....
