If you work at an Eaton site, you are very familiar with the importance of the CONC metric. CONC stands for Cost of Non-Conformance, and is a key indicator that provides valuable feedback on prime drivers of operational waste. There is a CONC metric that is driven at the site level, and measured in Power BI. That is what we will discuss first.
CONC is expressed as a percentage. Generally speaking, the lower the percentage, the better your performance.
To determine your CONC percentage, you need to know your Total LABOR HOURS spent on Breakdown Tasks and divide that into your Total Task hours.
Remember, it is about labor hours, not just downtime hours. If you had three Techs working on a machine for 8 hours of downtime on a Breakdown task, for the CONC Metric, you would be charged 24 hours, not just 8.
You can see how important it is to make sure that malfunctions are marked correctly. If the machine is put in as a breakdown in error, you must DELETE the malfunction to ensure your metrics calculate properly.
1. In the chart above, the site had 64.8 total labor hours on Breakdown tasks.
2. When considering all task types for the month, there were 1,557.6 hours worked for the month.
3. When you divide 64.8 by 1557.6, you get 0.0416, which rounds up to 4.2%.
Please note: The Proactive toggle has no affect on CONC.
