4.34 What is the Logistics Manager used for?

Updated on

The Logistics Manager is where you will find many of the transactions that you might need to do outside a normal way, or outside the normal parameters.  For example, Refill to Targets (which generates requisitions) is in the Logistics Manager.  It runs once an hour for the ATS and Customer locations, but we have sites that have non-standard location names (like Cust-1) so they would always need to run Refill to Targets manually.  There also may be times when you need a requisition to generate right away, and do not have the time to wait for the next scheduled run -- in this case, you could use the Logistics Manager to generate your req.

The Logistics Manager also has the Misc. Adjustments transactions like Receipts, Issues, Transfers, etc.  These are primarily used for adjusting parts found in cycle counts in/out of inventory, or moving inventory out of the WorkOrder Bin if it is no longer needed on the Task.

Please remember, just because this is a a Misc Adjustment issue vs. a Work Order issue, there still is a financial impact to the transaction.

You will notice that there is a green template button.  This allows you to customize templates for your site, for easy use.

Whether you are talking about the menu on the far left, or the Misc Adjustment menu, it's important to understand that NOT ALL TRANSACTIONS ARE USED!

The Logistics Manager will do Part Need Allocations but it is MUCH EASIER to do this from the Part Need Search Screen, so we will show you how to use that screen instead.

From the left-hand menu you will use these options:

The only functions we use on the left hand menu are:

Miscellaneous Adjustments - SEE BELOW.

Refill to Targets

and Transfer Bin (only when you are moving your crib or moving the entire contents of one bin to another)

From the Misc Adj Menu, we only use the following transactions:

  • Issue
  • Receipt
  • Scrap
  • Transfer
  • Transfer Use to Unusable
