13.7 How do I stop downtime from accruing while my site is on a Planned Outage?

Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

If your plant is going to be shutdown for a planned outage, you probably don't want downtime accumulating for any equipment that is currently down and/or reduced during the time of the outage.

The following steps outline the process you can take to stop the downtime for the period the plant is shutdown.  You can resume the downtime when the site resumes production.  This will give the most accurate measure of your downtime picture.

These steps can be completed after you return to the site as well.

1. From the Navigation Pane of the Work Module, click on Work and select Tasks.

2. Use the drop down to select the Down and Reduced View.

3. Click on the Filter Icon and filter the Status column to un-check Canceled, Reviewed and Completed.

4. Click on the the Filter Icon again and filter the Operating Status to only select Down (or Down and Reduced if you use that status at your site.)

5. The Grid is now filtered to show only Tasks that are currently in a down operating status.

In our example, we have 32 Tasks to adjust.

Don't miss Step 5!

6. Before making the adjustment, click Excel to download this list.  These are the Tasks you will have to restart the malfunctions on when the site returns from the planned outage.

6.1. The list downloads.

6.2. Rename it to "Restart downtime after outage"

6.3. Email it to yourself or place it in a folder so you know where to find it.

7. Highlight a line to load the task.

8. Click on the Malfunction icon.

9. Click on the three lines after Actions and choose Edit.

10. In our example, the Planned Outage began on June 9, at 10:25 AM. We want to stop downtime on October 13, at 8:27 PM.

10.1. Click the Malfunction closed slider

10.2. Choose the Date from the calendar. Enter the Hour and minute, making sure the AM/PM setting is correct and click SET.

10.3. Click Save.

11. A confirmation message tells you that the malfunction has been updated.

12. The original malfunction has now been stopped at the exact date/time of the start of your Planned Shutdown.

13. The +Add Malfunction button is now present.

  • Once you return from shutdown, you simply access the Excel list from Step 5.3.
  • Click +Add Malfunction and enter a malfunction start time that is equal to the time production resumed at the site.
  • This malfunction will NOT be considered a breakdown, as  it doesn't fall within 5 minutes of Work Order/Task creation.
