7.36 Can I edit a job plan in the Planning Wizard?

Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

The short answer is no.  While it is possible to CHANGE the actual Job Plan that is on a Task using the Planning Wizard, it is NOT possible to EDIT that Job Plan from the Planning Wizard.

You can, however make changes to the Task once you have applied the new Job Plan, but those changes will not be reflected back to the Job Plan.

If you need to make changes to the Job Plan, you must first edit the Job Plan BEFORE adding it to the Task.

1. Go to the Planner Portal.

2. Click on Tasks.

3. Click the checkmark in front of the task you wish to modify.

4. Click the magic wand icon to enter the Planning Wizard.

5. To see information about the Job Plan, click on the Job Plan Id.

6. A read-only copy of the Job Plan will open in a new tab.

7. You can move through the Job Plan details by moving through the screens.

8. Click on the X in the upper right corner to close the tab and move back to the Planning Wizard.

9. To apply the new template click the Assign button.

The new job plan name will be shown in the Notes section of the Task.

10. The task type stays as CM but the Job Plan id is changed.

An event showing the Job Plan change is tracked in the History Tab.

11. From here if you go to the Steps, Duration, Parts or Attachments for the Task, you will originally see what is defaulted in from the Job Plan.

12. If you wish to edit the steps from here, you can -- but please remember, you are only altering steps on this Task -- NOT the job plan.

13. The same thing holds true for adding or deleting parts or attachments, or even changing the duration.

14. Once you have finished with the Task, the Summary Panel allows you to move the Task to Ready for scheduling.

15. Click the Move to Scheduling icon under the Action column to make this happen.

16. The column will now display Already moved to scheduling and will be off of the Task view in the Planning Wizard.
