10.17 How do I assign a task to a different skillset than originally required for the job in Daily Capacity?

Updated on

Essential Resources: To complete this training you must have access to eFACTORYPRO.

This article will show you what to do when a task makes it all the way to Daily Capacity, and it is necessary to assign a technician that is not in the original skillset.

This could be because the scheduled tech is unavailable for work, or due to various changes at the plant.

As you know, when you plan a job, you must have at least one skillset assigned. When assigning it in the Period Capacity, it is most common that the skillset stays the same from the original job plan.  However, if you need to change it, you can do so from any number of places.

If you need to assign a technician with a different skillset than originally required, you do this from inside the Task Tile on the Daily Capacity Screen (as opposed to using the schedule view to make the task skillset assignment.)  From the Task Tile, users will select a technician from a drop-down next to each skillset listed on the task tile.  Here is how this works.

Since skillsets are not set up in a hierarchical fashion in EFP, there is currently no concept of one skillset being "higher" or "lower" than another.

1. Log into the Planner Portal and use the Navigation Pane to click on the Planner/Scheduler section and select Scheduling.

2. Go to Daily Capacity.

The Default View will be the Current Week for Daily Capacity because you need to be able to schedule Break-in (P1 & P2) Work.  You can move to any future scheduling period in advance by simply clicking on the arrows.

4. When going to assign the task, we can see that the skillset was originally a Tech I.

We want to assign it to a Tech II instead because that better matches our availability for the day.

5. Click the Assign button.

You do not have to remove the skillset or Unassign anything before clicking Assign.

6. A pop-up box comes up.

7. Select the Technician from the drop-down.

8. Select the Start Date.

9. Click Save.

10. The Panel shows the updated information.

11. The schedule is updated on the Daily Capacity grid.

12. The Tech will see it in their My Work grid for that day.
