7.8 How do I create a new Task Template?

Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

You should be using Job Plans in the Planner Portal vs. the Task Templates in the CLIENT.  For documentation on Job Plans and the Planner Portal, please click here.

This document covers how to create a Task Template from scratch.  An example of when you would do this is if you added a new machine to your site, and need to create new PMs.  However, keep in mind, EFP also has a COPY function for Task Templates.  If another site has that kind of machine, you may be able to copy their Task Template and just modify it.

This document covers how to create a Task Template from scratch.

1. From the Main Menu, Go to Service > Admin > Task Template.

2. Another option to bring up the Task Template Screen is to type Task in the System Search field in the upper right corner and select Task Template from the results.

3. Click NEW in the Header.

The Task Template ID is automatically generated.

4. Enter a Description.

Include the Time Frame at the end of the description ("-Weekly" or "-W" is acceptable.)

5. Enter the Team ID for your site that includes the four-digit site number -ATS.

6. Task Type Defaults to MPRO.

7. Confirm the Priority is what you want.  This will be the Task Priority.  The default is 3-Normal, but it can be changed higher or lower.

Priority is a required field.

8. Task Category Defaults to PM.

9. Enter the Task Duration.

If there are additional fields you'd like to populate you may do so.

10. Click SAVE.

11. Click on Steps in the Lower Tabs.

12. Click on the NEW button under the Steps Tab.

13. Expand the Red Chevron next to the Line Number.

14. Enter Step Order 1.

  • The SEQ order automatically defaults in, but the step order has to be manually entered, and can be changed if you need to insert or delete a step later.

Keep in mind- the CLIENT sorts by SEQ number, but the Portal will sort by Step order.  As a best practice, you should have the Sequence Number and Step Number match -- this will ensure that the Steps display the same - regardless of the environment.

15. Enter a name to describe the step in the Name field.

16. The first step is always Pre-Task Analysis.  Click the drop-down arrow next to the Text ID and select that.

17. Choose "Service" from the Type drop-down field.

18. Click the Required box if the step is to be required.

19. In this case, the Step Text defaults in because you selected one of the pre-populated Text IDs.

If Step Text does not populate, please fill in a description of what is required to complete the step.

20. Click on the Red Chevron to collapse the line.

21. Repeat Steps 11-19 until the Task Template is complete.

22. Click Save.
